Deal eight cards to each player, and spread out the remaining cards face down. Place a large cup in the center of the table.
Each player places two cards face down in front of him. Betting begins with the person to the left of the dealer. "Bets" are made by pouring beer into the large cup in the center of the table. Some, but any, amount of beer must be poured into the cup.
After everyone has betted, cards are flipped over. The highest hand wins. (In the event of a tie, winners each draw a card from the pile, going card against card, until a winner is determined.) The winner is allowed to force any other player to chug the large cup.
The player stuck with drinking the cup has one chance to avoid his punishment. He may select one card from the pile, and if he "smokes out" a face card, the cup goes back to the player with the winning hand, who must finish it.
Bets are made with the players' remaining cards, until all cards are played.
