The Winner for May 2, 2001

Missile Commando

In honor of President Bush "testing the waters" to see if enough people agree with his missile defense plan, we present today's award to this Java version of Atari's classic Missile Command.

Here's what Senator Tom Daschle of South Dakota was quoted as saying today:

"We fear the president may be buying a lemon here. There has not been a shred of evidence that this works."

Tom obviously never owned an Atari 2600. Come on, Tom! All you need to do is put the little target thing below one of those lines and press the button! Isn't this at this least a proof of concept? I mean, you have one thing zooming at you through the air, and you have something on the ground (or in space) that you want to shoot at the other thing. Do you honestly see no way for this thing to work? Not even in theory? If there's even a chance that it will work, isn't it worth the research?

Democrats should be the last people to talk about spending money on things that won't work. Look at some of the people on welfare.
