The Savethehumans.com
Self-Gratification
of the Day Award

For the most unnecessary - but coolest - product, website, or doodad of the day.

The Winner for January 24, 2001

FuckedCompany.com

Ever feel a bitter sense of amusement when another web company drops dead? Of course, I'm not talking to the person who loves it when any company fails for any reason (you goddammn commie bastard) but rather anyone who sees what a joke some of these companies are.

At FuckedCompany.com, you get to channel some of this negative energy. You can choose up to five companies each week that you think will get "fucked". You get points based on the severity of the fuck, like whether the company went out of business, or just laid off employees, etc. And the fewer people who have picked the company you picked, the more points you get.

You don't win anything (except a sense of grim satisfaction), but the game is a lot of fun. And whether you play the game or not, you can check out the site for its daily updates of news and rumors about which company is getting screwed when.

There's a good dose of humor, too. For example, the following appeared this week:

"People often ask me, "how can I tell if a dot-com is fucked or not?" The answer (which I possess, of course) varies from market to market, but here's a hint: if the site is a "comedy" site, surf around and see if you find anything "funny" on it (besides the investor info pages, etc). That said, rumor has it ComedyWorld.com laid off 40."

Great stuff. Check out FuckedCompany.com
