I believe that your views of Microsoft are quite silly and your points backing them pertain to subjects well off-topic. Since when does a refrence to Ellian Gonzalas have anything whatsoever to do with Microsoft.
The comments you made about Netscape are as interesting as they are wrong. Netscape isn't hiding behind anyone's back. Development for netscape is always ongoing and continues to be advanced in the form of Mozilla. (www.mozilla.org) The Mozilla browser is popular among the linux community for those who do not know this.
Why are you few and loud comments so wrong?
1. Bill Gates obivously has a monopoly on the operating system industry.
2.Macs, BeOs, Unix, and Linux all have nearly no compatibility between their native filesystems and windows becauase Microsoft refuses to give liscenses to these "lesser" OSes for thier filesystems and such. The linux community developers for example were nearly castrated when they were developing a read-write access from linux to NTFS. NTFS is microsoft's proprietary filesystem for windows NT and 2k and also now XP.
3. Do you really enjoy giving money away for a "prettier" OS wiht more clicks to get to what you want? Every new vamping of the "latest and greatest" Microsoft OS has been in vain. Microsoft has given bad efforts on the last 2 operating systems that they have put out. XP is garbage and is designed to attract attention by how "pretty" and how "user friendly" it is. Instead of creating a pastel colored OS, why not make something that is actually usable. Windows ME was pure garbage as well. I would like you to notice on www.tomshardware.com they had done a comparison of windows ME verses windows 98se, windows 98 out-ran ME every time by posting better scores in the exact same computer setup.
4.Do you also enjoy paying Microsoft more money every year to senselessly upgrade your operating system?
Microsoft: That'll be 300 dollars please.
Customer: But i just upgarded last year.
Microsoft: Yes, but we will hype this operating system SO much that you will want it.
This is much like a dilbert cartoon.
5.Microsoft has successfully convinced people to stray from even remotely trying to use other operating systems. Linux is god forbidden, and if you even think about buying a Mac, you are going to hell. Macs are great and have their place in photo-editing and other video-rich work. Linux systems can run networks and accomplish file-serving on a much better level than microsoft could ever wish to. Unix is even better.
6.Most people are happy with a computer that they can type their documents and other office-related tasks into. Linux now offers this. Linux can easily run Koffice now and can print and handle what I can safely say is 40% of the world's need of computing. Not many people fully use their computers anyway, and linux would suffice is my point.
7. Did i forget to mention...Linux....IS FREE.
8.NO MORE CRASHES. Run linux and your box will never die. Windows is highly un-reliable and usually has a way of dying on you when your in the middle of doing something important. Hence, TRUE process management such as linux text-based typing of ps-aux, then manually killing the process that is running is very efficient. Windows has a silly little box that comes up and asks if you would like to "end the task" or "wait 20 seconds"....which usually results in the entire machine being dragged down by a hanging process in windows 2000/XP.
9.Linux support is growing every day. Apple has taken the initative to go open source, and so are most of the anti-microsoft oses. Apple's mac OS X.xx are all based on the "darwin" OS which, in itself is a linux OS. It took Microsoft only a short while to try to make something similar. Open Source is the generic term for free software under the GNU liscense. Microsoft of course does not like this because there is no money to be made in this. (OH GOD...free software...heaven forbid)
10. SUPPORT.
Have you ever tried to call and ask for Microsoft help? The first thing they tell you is this: Please have your credit card ready. hmm...doesn't sound good. At the end of the month you get a bill for 370$ for speaking with a Microsoft technician. Often times, subscribing to TechNet would have solved many of your problems, but not anymore. The technicians bladtently withhold information from you in order to get a second call out of you. This is not a fair practice in marketing. Linux support is easily found on the internet in the form of linux help documents. The linux community is so large that posting on advice columns will often solve your problem.
Before you jump on me and say, well i'm just wrong becuase i'm an anti-microsoft, pro-linux, whatever you may lable me as--think about this. Ignorance is basically all Microsoft has relied on in order to attain, and sustain a monoply. Let it continue and this will be a disaster.
