Republican Senatorial Candidate Rick Lazio and the West Nile Virus: Any Connection?

A controversy has erupted this week, upon the report of a rumor concerning the religious standing of the Republican candidate for the New York Senate, Rick Lazio. His opponents have proclaimed that it is too much of a coincidence that both the West Nile virus and Rick Lazio live on Long Island.
"We may be going out on a limb here, but we're prepared to say that the coming of Rick Lazio has been foretold for quite some time", reported an aide of the New York Democratic party. "That's right: Rick Lazio is the Anti-Christ."
Lazio, taken aback by the accusation, had nothing to say to the press concerning the issue, except that "the Dark One would not be happy" once he heard about it.
