A website called Rense.com posted my article Even Better Than a Schindler's List yesterday.
I discovered this because I got two e-mails yesterday morning from people complimenting me on the article, who mentioned that they saw it on Rense. I also got this e-mail later in the day:
"Resurgence in Holocaust propagandizing can only mean one thing: The perpetrators of the hoax are aware that their "story" is coming undone."
I didn't need to see this e-mail to know the Rense website was somewhat... questionable. The articles about UFOs and the various anti-Israel rants already did the trick. (As a side note, if you're one of those idiots who call Israeli self defense "terrorism", you might want to reconsider your position when worshippers of little green men agree with you.)
Oh yeah, and how about this one. I got a phone call at my workplace from a guy calling me a "fucking Jew hater". That's always a nice way to start your day. The guy took the time to track down where I work, or just called every Jason Roth he could find, just to curse me out.
I told him "no", when he asked whether I thought the Holocaust was "funny". I don't think he heard me, because by that time, he was already calling me a "Jew-hating prick".
Evidently, my Jewish friend was the other side of the satirically-impaired coin occupied on the heads side by the above "Holocaust hoax" believers, and on the tails side by the "I visit anti-Israel websites just to piss myself off" crowd. Just proof that you can never be sure where you might find stupidity.
I e-mailed Rense to ask them to remove my article from their site. If I'm going to piss someone off, I want to do it on my own terms. I don't mind being called a "fucking Jew hater" (especially since I've also been called a "cowardly Jew"), but to be called a "fucking Jew hater" and to be suspected of being a UFO-obsessed freak, that's more than I can take.
We'll see if I get any response from Rense. I doubt it, though, considering they've posted this disclaimer which makes demands about the use of their web content, while at the same time explaining why they took my article with this "fair use" statement.
What can we learn from all of this, boys and girls? That there's plenty of irrationality to go around. Just wait your turn.
(Update: I e-mailed them once more with slightly "stronger" language, and on 4/18/04 they removed the article.)
