Anyone see the movie 13 Days? I haven't. But I'm old enough to remember the Cuban Missile Crisis. The high school history lesson about it, that is.
Does it take a genius to realize that the same damn thing is going to happen again? Do yourself a favor, read Bill Gertz's article in the Washington Times: China secretly shipping Cuba arms.
This is happening, by the way, at the same time China's new ID card program is making the news. China plans on issuing every citizen a high-tech ID card, so all their peons can be accounted for.
It's also happening while President Bush maintains a policy of open trade with China. In fact, Bush wants trade with China opened up even more.
I wish I could be more optimistic, but I can't. If the United States does not grow some bolas muy grandes very quickly (i.e., huge goddamn cojones) some terrorist somewhere is going to cause some kind of serious damage. Sure, they might not get any further than the World Trade Center or maybe the city of Washington, D.C. before we blow their country off the planet, but something is going to happen. You don't just keep bending over and taking it up the tailpipe from terrorist nations and expect nothing to happen.
For starters, we need to demand an end to all China-Cuba relations. When U.S. Intelligence officials learn about arms going from China to Cuba, what in God's name do they think they're going there for?
Are you scared? You should be.
Signing off,
JR
