It's only 8:00 AM in New York on October 24, but TV's hired talking heads (a.k.a. "experts") are already pissing in their proverbial pants. One of the two sniper suspects is named "Muhammad".
Within ten minutes, I heard two talking heads telling anyone within earshot that it's "unfortunate" that this guy's name is Muhammad. It will only "tarnish" an already tarnished community. Like it's a mere coincidence that someone who "also goes by the name John Allen Williams" (Associated Press) just happens to have changed his name to a Muslim one.
Let's put this attitude in perspective:
- Whether you're Muslim or not is irrelevant to whether you terrorize and kill people.
- Some people actually hope that murderers aren't Muslim so that Muslims don't have their feelings hurt.
Yeah, me, too. Personally, I'm hoping for another few dozen shootings, and to satisfy my thirst for multicultural, politically-correct death and destruction, I'm praying that each killer represents a particular race, religion, and creed. It'll make me feel a whole lot better once we catch a white Catholic ax murderer, a Vietnamese Jewish strangler, and if we really hit the jackpot, a Buddhist knife-wielding, sexual assaulting cannibal who happens to be an Eskimo from Australia.
